With equal parts excitement, terror, sadness and overwhelming joy, today we announce that Blossom & Vine Floral Co is moving to Vancouver!
We will be opening our doors at E.11th Ave and Main St. (156 E. 11th to be exact) in a charming little space between Dock Lunch and Stone Fox Hair in late June. We'll be operating as a full-service florist as well as bringing in some special gift and decor items we are particularly fond of.
We are so excited for this next step and know it will be a huge undertaking. We will be operating our BMLxBVFC pop-up shop until we are ready to open our full-service location. Once we open our doors in Vancouver, Brick & Mortar Living will still be a pick-up location for those faithful New West customers that place special orders with us ahead of time. We will also have a special delivery rate for deliveries within New Westminster.
We would like to thank the amazing community we found in New Westminster. We wouldn't be where we are without your support and will miss getting to see you peruse our little corner of BML. You may wonder why we have chosen to move out of the city we got our start in. We worked tirelessly over the past year to find a permanent home for BVFC within downtown New West but with the exciting and rapid rise in development, charming and small retail spaces are few and far between. We even attempted to set up a mobile operation but city by-laws were not ready for our crazy cool business plan. Ah well! We ended up hearing about this space from another shop owner who encouraged us to go take a look. We took one step into the place and knew it was the one. Mt. Pleasant is one of my favourite neighbourhoods to spend time in and with so many of our wedding clients calling Vancouver home, it just made sense.
The team at Brick & Mortar Living have become family to me. I spend more time with them than I do my own! They know a thing or two about starting a business from scratch (to put it mildly) and have been the most supportive driving force behind getting BVFC to this point. Encouragement, words of wisdom, a trillion Starbucks runs, product sourcing and genius ideas (mini-bouquets were all them!) are just a smidgen of what they provided. These ladies set a stellar example on lifting each other up.
We will keep you posted on opening dates and hope you venture out to Mt. Pleasant to smell the flowers.
Valentine's Day ain't only for lovers! We've got a whole whack of goodies on for this years day o' love. First up: Valentine's Day Pre-Orders. Call Brick & Mortar Living to reserve one of 5 sassy floral options for pick up on February 11, 12th or 14th and contact us directly if you'd like us to deliver something to your bae on February 14th.
We're also hosting a fun "Galentine's Day" teacup arrangement workshop on the evening of February 13th. For $65 (or $60 each if you book with a buddy) you'll make a sweet rose, ranunculus and heirloom carnation arrangement in a vintage china teacup. Call Brick & Mortar Living to reserve your space.
We'll be slinging blooms all weekend and all day Tuesday at Brick & Mortar Living, 11-6pm. Come say hi!
Wedding season launches in t-minus 7 days for BVFC! This one will be a doozy - we have back to back weddings from July to October, and many multiple wedding weekends. Instead of running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to knock it out of the park for each of our amazing couples single-handedly, we'll be welcoming both Toni & Colleen to the BVFC Team for the wedding season. They'll be helping with all the behind the scenes goings ons that comes along with weddings: flower pick-ups, processing, taking out the trash, making 100 or so boutonnieres (seriously), tying ribbons, loading the BVFC mobile, etc, etc. We're so excited to have a few extra hands to help wow our clients. Thanks so much ladies! Cue flower mugshots.
There were some spoiled Mama's around our hood this weekend. After our successful flower crown workshop in April, we decided to follow up with a special Mother's Day Mason Jar Workshop for kids at Sixth Street Popup and Gallery this weekend. We were joined by 6 kiddos and their Mums/Dads and had so much fun putting together sweet mason jar posies for Mum's/Grandma's/Nanny's/and Oma's. It was so fun seeing each kid's individual style come out in their work - some showed more restraint, while others threw caution to the wind, experimented with cutting and measuring stems with new and interesting techniques.
Big props go out to my sister Megan for picking our playlist and being the clean up crew and to Raeleigh of Larkrise Horse House for not only bringing her daughter and niece but also for getting some amazing photos of our morning. If you're looking for beautiful, vintage inspired styled portrait photography (seriously, some of the CUTEST family sessions I've ever seen), Raeleigh is your girl.
Thanks to all that came out and we can't wait for the next one. To keep up to date with our workshops, add your email to our Newsletter list on our Contact page..
We're gearing up for another big flower holiday here at Blossom & Vine Floral Co. Flower deliveries are flying out the door, peonies are flying in the door, and we're busy getting our vases prepped, cooler stocked, and snips sharp!
Choose from this beautiful rustic wood box arrangement filled with the best of the season: fragrant coral and pink peonies, peach, ivory and pink roses, lavender hyacinth, ruffley carnations, fluffy hydrangea, tulips and fresh snapdragons for $60. Last years vintage teacup arrangements were such a hit that we'll also be bringing those back filled with peonies, roses and carnations for $30. We will have kraft wrapped bouquets for $30 and $50 available as well.
We will have lots of flowers available for walk-in's at Brick & Mortar Living, but we did sell out last year early in the day. We're taking pre-orders until today at Brick & Mortar Living. Call 604 553-0289 to get on the list so you won't miss out! Your mama will appreciate it.
It's the least you can do given her 9 months sans wine ;)
What better way to celebrate Mother's Day then hold a flower workshop for kids? Bring the kiddos down to Sixth St. Popup & Gallery (42 6th St. New Westminster) bright and early, 9:30am - 10:30am on Saturday May 7th. We'll be making mason jar arrangements for a bunch of lucky Mamma's. Parents are welcome to stay but we're also pretty well versed in the under 12 set if you want to escape out for a coffee for an hour. Space is limited and tickets are only $20, available at Brick & Mortar Living. We'll be using floral scissors so little's 4 years old and up please!
We were so pleased to host our first workshop on April 5th. We decked Sixth St. Popup & Gallery out in flowers and welcomed 10 attendees for a night of flower crown making. The mess was spectacular, the company lovely and the end result was beautiful with each crown looking so different. We hope a good time was had by all and we can't wait to host another.
Props go out to everyone who came out and a big high-five to our buddies Begbie the Boston for being super cute and Julia for taking phenomenal photos.
Want to spend a Tuesday evening playing with flowers? It's a Tuesday evening - of COURSE you do! We're excited to announce our first workshop for fellow flower lovers!
Join us at Sixth St. Popup Gallery on Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm to make a romantic and beautiful fresh flower crown. Tickets are only $50 and available at Brick & Mortar Living. Spaces are limited so grab a few friends for a night of tea-sipping and flower-snipping. We'll cover some simple taping and wiring techniques along with what flowers to choose, and how to arrange them for the best composition. This workshop is for fun and no previous experience is necessary.
Email us at email@example.com for more details or call Brick & Mortar Living at 604-553-0289 to pay and reserve your space. Can't wait to see you!
Spring is just around the corner in our neck of the woods. Longer days, sunny skies, t-shirt weather and leafy trees are on the horizon! Spring has always been my favourite. No matter where you are in life, something about spring inspires a fresh start.
This spring is no different. I'm making the jump and taking Blossom & Vine Floral Co. full-time. Since our launch 2 years ago, I've worked full-time while building the business up on the side. At the end of April, I'll be leaving my full-time job which will offer us more flexibility and time to meet our customers needs. We will be introducing flower subscriptions, delivery and an extra day or two in-shop. We are so excited for this next step in our business and know good things are on the horizon!
In appreciation of this glorious season, the shop is filled with local and seasonal blooms. Flowering branches, spring bulb planters, potted muscari, bunches of frilly daffodils and tulips and mixed bouquets of hyacinth, ranunculus, creamy garden roses and sweet cherry blossoms.
3 weeks later and (we are pretty sure) we've recovered enough to re-cap our little pop-up flower shop's Valentine's Day.
16 dozen roses, 125 carnations, 90 stems of ranunculus, 80 stems of stock, 20 different bunches of greens, tulips, and waxflower all unpacked onto the stoop of Sixth St. Popup & Gallery: Not necessarily an uncommon sight at 7:00am 4 days before Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day holds a special place in our heart - not just because of the sentiment of the holiday, but because it also marks our first anniversary of working with Brick & Mortar Living!
Last Valentine's Day was a whirlwind. To say we were not prepared is an understatement. Learning from our mistakes, we made sure this year we were prepped, bouquets were made and wrapped and pre-orders sold out! (Say what?!)
Both the small and the large vase arrangements were the hot-ticket items for Valentine's 2016, for good reason. Shades of pinks, purples, and ivory were our jam this year and each arrangement had a gorgeous mix of these colours all arranged in a wild and romantic fashion - perfect for the holiday at hand. Our hobnail vases added that touch of vintage that everyone needs a little more of. We like 'em better than those boring old cube vases.
Once again, we had an amazing turn-out this year, even with the horrible pouring rain. Thank you so much to our customers who made it out to pick up their flowers for their special someone! Can't wait to do it all again next year. Speaking of next year, we want to hear from you! Let us know what you want to see for next year and we'll do our darndest to get it on the menu.
A few weeks back we welcomed the amazing Suzanna and her team at Tori Blush Co to New Westminster. Tori Blush Co. is a team of make-up artists, hair stylists and lash technicians, specializing in providing classic and timeless bridal make-up. Suzanna hosted a few dozen guests at her beautiful by-appointment-only studio here in New West for a night of snacks and treats from La Macaronette and Sweet Bake Shop, photo booth fun care of Swany Booth and pretty party decor from Chic Fete. The incredibly talented Christine Pienaar was there to capture some photos of the lush and girly floral arrangements we put together for the event.

Well, finally, we have a functional blog to go along with our pretty little website. Check here for updates on the shop, and little peeks into some of the weddings and events we help put together.
